Police conclude investigations in Tlokweng murder case

Appearing before Extension II Magistrate, Ntombizodwa Ncube yesterday, the prosecution said they have completed their investigations, stating that they have already referred the docket to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for assessment to prosecute.

The prosecution said their investigations have revealed that indeed Mogotsi is responsible for the murder of Lesolebe from Lerala village, hence the case is ready to be prosecuted.

Asked if he has anything to say, Mogotsi pleaded with the court to serve him with all the witness statements. Ncube ordered the prosecution to make sure that they update DPP on the progress of the case and inform them to serve the accused person with all the relevant documents.

On June 25, Lesolebe’s body was found buried under a concrete floor at Mogotsi’s rented house in Tlokweng. It is alleged that Lesolebe, who went missing for about two weeks, was later discovered by the police buried in a shallow grave inside Mogotsi’s house.

On the fateful day, Mogotsi led the heavy police escort to his house where he had buried her. The exhumation attracted a massive curious crowd who milled around at the crime scene to witness exhumation of the young woman’s decomposed body until the police took it away.

Mogotsi was arrested by the police then at Banyana Farms near Moshupa where he had fled to on June 25, the day that Lesolebe was reported missing. It is alleged that before the murder, the duo had a misunderstanding and alleged to have fought before she went missing. It is alleged that then Mogotsi confessed to the police that he had lost his temper when Lesolebe wanted to end the affair, and acting out of anger he killed her. Mmegi has learnt that Mogotsi also has another pending murder case before the Lobatse High Court in which he is accused of killing a co-worker in the farms in Tlokweng. Mogotsi will appear in court on December 18.
