Nkomazana demands back missing P190,000

When he appeared before the regional magistrate Mokwadi Chris Gabanagae, the 36-year-old accused pleaded with the court to assist him recover his properties.

He said at the time of his arrest, the IO, detective senior Superintendent Sergeant Marapo confiscated the remote for his motorised gate, but some property, including a cash amount of P190,000 went missing from the house.

“I need the court to assist me concerning the IO. Since last year when I appeared at Extension II, I have never been assisted. The IO is refusing to return my property.

He seized the remote control of the gate where I was staying. My property is missing including P190,000 cash,” he said.

Nkomazana told the court that the missing properties also include over 20 suits and different pairs of shoes.  He said only three pairs of shoes were left in the house. He further said the police also took some documents containing information of people who owe him some money.  “Since they are refusing to hand them back to me, I am unable to track them up so that they pay me. I need your assistance.

I want the IO to bring my things back because I don’t want to accuse him of stealing,” he added.

Early this year, the accused complained to Extension II magistrate, Ntombizodwa Ncube that he has learnt of a break-in at his house and that he has been robbed.

He said then that he had not been able to find out what had been stolen and therefore open a case because he was in custody.

“I plead with the court to give me time to go and see what has been stolen and open a case with the police,” he said at the time.

Nkomazana also complained that he has been incarcerated for a long time while his co-accused who are out on bail, are always seeking postponements. He said at this moment, he does not know what is happening.

However, State prosecutor Ambrose Mubikwa said the issues raised by the accused could be addressed in the presence of the IO.

“The IO needs to be heard on the matter. It is not one which we can take his word for it. I will pass the message to the substantive prosecutor Mr Mosarwane,” said Mubikwa.

When extending his remand warrant, magistrate Gabanagae ordered the prosecution to avail the IO in the next mention to explain to the court about the accused’s missing properties.

Nkomazana is charged alongside 12 others on 11 different counts.  The 12 are attorney, Letlhogonolo Makgane, Billy Molefe, Motlalepula Molefe, attorney, Bhekimpilo Moyo, Tebogo Edwin Koketso, Ketshepile Sharon Lempehu, Jerico Murima, Othusitse Seoke, Daniel Gasefiwe, Keothupilwe Aobakwe, Levy Mosweu and Pula Joseph.
