Former Makau member goes solo

Now on his own, Leo Malomo has decided to branch away from the group and has released a new single called Monate wa Gaborone.

Even though Makau’s fame has gloomed over the years since they released Sebinjolo, Leo said he wants to create his own brand different from Makau no wonder he worked on a house song with Deejay Bino.

The 27-year-old artists told Showbiz in an interview that he also calls the song Tserere because there is a part where he sings Tserere therefore he suggested that people might call it that way.

He said he has been in the music industry for a long time but he went solo because he wants to pursue his dreams. “With a group there is always limits. You might be on the same page but you might not have the same ambition,” he said. Leo said he wants to stand on his own because Makau was limiting his musical ability. He emphasised that before everything he was a solo artist.

“It was no longer working for me and I want to approach it differently. I like presenting myself in a certain way so it will be different from Makau,” he said.

Leo said he wanted a different approach during his time at Makau but now that he is on his own he will follow his path better as a solo artist. “I was the one who produced Makau’s Mr DJ and I am doing house music now,” he said.

He indicated that he had long intended to go solo but he feared what people might think. Leo said he wanted more urban sound and the music that will help him to grow. He said he did not fight with his former members but he just decided to follow his own destiny.
