Four bouts are internationals while the other two are for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan African titles.  Boxers are from the hosts, Botswana, South Africa, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Kenya.  Boxers from Botswana are Steven Bagwasi, Moabi Ngaka, Kutlwano Ogaketse and Tshephang Babui from D’scud Boxing stable.

PBAB president, Shakes Kebualemang told Mmegi Sport that this is the last event for the year since they had an agreement of a series of events, which started in August.

“We hosted another event in October and today we are closing the year on a high note. It has been a good year for us and this partnership has shown the growth of local professional boxing.  We have learnt a lot from Fox Sport,” he said.

He said they have learnt about the importance of hosting rules and regulations, medicals, supervision, amongst other things. He said the plan is for PBAB to draw their rules and regulations after affiliating with the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC).

Meanwhile, Kebualemang said early this year, Fox Sport applied to BNSC to host professional boxing tournaments. He said the BNSC found it necessary to approach PBAB as it is the sole sanctioning body.

“BNSC cannot authorise the local existing professional body to sanction a fight, basing on what is considered to be a promoter or company to host professional boxing in Botswana,” Kebualemang said.
