Speaking in the aftermath of the victory at the unveiling of the new BDP committee, Masisi said the confidence showed in him by the BDP congress was humbling and pledged to do all to repay Madomkgrag’s faith and confidence in his team.

Masisi thanked his party that the BDP congress that assigned him and his team the honour to lead the party was punctuated by peace and tranquillity with rivalries of camps soon forgotten as both sides exchanged hugs and pledged support and love for their beloved Domkgrag.

The Vice President said by giving him the honour to lead, the BDP had set an example to other political movements that elective congress should not translate into personal hatred and instability of organisations, as it has become the norm in the opposition today.

Masisi in particular embraced all the BDP faithful, more especially the camp that stood against his, saying Domkgrag needs them all. He also saluted Nonofo Molefhi and his team for their passion for the party, which they showed by presenting themselves as candidates for the various positions in the Party.

Masisi will be remembered for his magnanimity during the run up to the Tonota elective congress, when he showed great respect for the other camp as he spoke in glowing terms about Molefhi and his team, further emphasising that as democrats, Molefhi and his camp had the right to contest for their posts.

The Vice President and his entire slate enjoyed the blessings of the BDP congress who found it fit not only to retain the Vice President as the Party chairperson, but also to overwhelmingly support his entire slate that included long serving party treasurer, Satar Dada, Mpho Balopi, as the secretary general. Balopi, who also came into the Tonota Congress as a member of the BDP Central committee, has the experience of having served twice as the BDP secretary general in recent times.

The Vice President was returned along with his deputy treasurer Jagdish Shah, deputy secretary general Hon Shaw Kgathi, both of whom also served in their respective positions going into Tonota.

He repeated the sentiments as he unveiled the newly elected BDP central committee, and called upon Molefhi and his team to continue working hard for the beloved party, further highlighting that no one is going to be side-lined by his committee simply because he was on the other side.

This victory certainly bodes well for a resurgent BDP to face off the impending challenge from the opposition. In Masisi, the BDP has its man to fight a good fight against a united opposition.
