He was competing against contestants from 15 African countries. The young man, who came back to the country this week, did his best to bring the crown home despite the challenges he faced as the country issued his visa late and he got to Lagos a day before the grand finale.

Molatedi also scooped the Beach Body of Africa award.

During an interview with Showbiz, he pointed out that the pageant gave him a great platform to establish his career ground. He said he went to Nigeria to learn other cultures and did his best to represent Botswana.

His achievements as Mister Gaborone include a one month long boot camp where he trained 34 young aspiring local models on how to be the best in the industry, hosted a fashion and celebrity world magazine fashion show during the International Youth Day that gave the youth a platform to showcase and share different ideas, anti-drugs and HIV/AIDS campaign and others.

He said the events that he has on the pipe line before his reign ends include an annual fashion show where in every eighth month’s last Thursday of those months together with his partners would give aspiring models a mileage where they could showcase their skills in a professional set up.

“As the third run up of Mister Africa International, we will host community based projects where we will be targeting children affected by war and poverty. We will also be sensitising children on issues such as alcohol and drugs, HIV and AIDS, prostitution and other pressing issues across different refugee camps in Africa,” he said.

He further advised his fellow youth that persistence and consistence was their key to success. He added that success was when preparation meets opportunity. He advised them to work hard to achieve their dreams.

However, Molatedi expressed a great concern over the government’s failure to recognise and help local talent.

He urged the government to support local talent so that artists could be able to make a living through their talents.

Molatedi is Mister Gaborone 2017 and is a young Motswana whose aim is to empower Botswana men for a better tomorrow. He is also a singer and was My Star 2017 top 40 finalist.
