New BCP youth leaders big dreams

Molefe was co-opted recently following the resignation of former BCPYL president Chillyboy Rakgare.  With just a few days in office, Molefe already knows what she ought to do and has a plan in place. Her priority, she said, would be to strengthen regional structures and empower them. “We have been visiting all our youth structures in the country to revive some and empower those which are existing.

Our youth committees have been emphasising political education in all youth structures it had visited.  “Our main goal as the youth league is to ensure that our youth get involved in decision making especially in areas like council, Parliament and party executive positions,” Molefe said yesterday in an interview.  She said they want their youth to also get involved in constituency committees as well as branch, cell and the regional structures.

In addition, Molefe said if BCP youth are empowered, they would be able to recruit members to the party or do not let any existing structure collapse.  She said only then, the youth would be able to stand for any situation that could come as a stumbling block to them.

The other thing that Molefe’s committee want to achieve is to make her party’s documentary for members to know where their party comes from and its formation.  “Our youth league is trying its best to raise funds for finish the documentary before party celebrates its 20th anniversary,” she said.

The Mogobane native said their youth league would continue to hold the government accountable, speak on youth unemployment and corruption in the country.  Molefe said she is concerned that not all Batswana are benefiting on government programmes especially youth.

“The government should come up with a strategy on how she could empower youth and create employment for them. Employment cannot be addressed by Ipelegeng. Youth companies that are existing should be supported,” she said.

In the BCP, Molefe served as a branch secretary for Ramotswa constituency for four years, BCPYL treasurer four years, BCPYL chairperson until she was two months back co-opted as a vice president when the former vice president Kealeboga Ikanyeng resigned from his party position due to work commitments.

Pako Madigele was then co-opted to the position of chairperson while Dimpho Mashaba became publicity secretary.  Molefe is holds a Bachelor of Arts degree Humanities and Post Graduate Diploma in Education. She works for a law firm in Gaborone as an executive assistant.
