After he parted ways with his former manager Zenzele Hirschfield, critics were quick to say this is his downfall as he had parted ways with an experienced artists manager.

The 20-year-old rapper recently released a new single dubbed Shine forever, which features Metro FM award nominee Veezo.

The upbeat track is a bit different from his usual raps, which mostly talks of girls, turn up, and unrealistic stuff. The lyrical content is tenser as he talks of growth, working hard and achievements.

“I am growing; I am not young anymore. I decided to be different not to sound like mumble rappers. I want the message in my music to be heard. I just want to make music that motivates people,” said Ban T.

However the song still carries that summer flavour type of beat, which is more of like Ban T’s signature sound.

The rapper noted that with time he has learnt that as a musician you have to express growth of your music. He noted that he is currently in the studio working with a number of producers such Prez Beatz, Bangu, FAT, Taku and Amo Beatz.

“I can’t state when exactly the album is coming out. I am a perfectionist. I am very particular with quality, and sound. I might drop an EP just before the album. My album will definitely change people’s perspective of what they think about me and my music,” Ban T said.

When talking about parting ways with Hirschfield who is believed to have helped the young rapper’s career to blossom, he stated that they parted ways without any bad blood between them as he felt it was time for growth and push his brand alone.

“I am forever grateful to what she has done for me and my career. I felt it was time I did my own thing. There is no tension between me and her which is why I have even collaborated with Veezo who is managed by Zen. Veezo is like a brother to me I am the one who introduced him to Zen”.

Having been the man to watch last year the independent rapper noted that he has received offers from a number of recording offers from a number of people but has turned them down as he prefers to be an independent artist at the moment.

The Why So rapper claims he is aware of the business side of music as he has studied music production in South Africa where he has also built relationships with the likes of DJ Milkshake, Tshego and Gemini Major.

Last year Ban T was the biggest winner at the Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAS) XXXL winning the best single male, people’s choice award and best Hip Hop/Motswako awards.
