TAFIC coach wants more firepower

He said this after watching his side lose 3-1 to Gaborone United (GU) in an emotionally charged BTC Premiership match played at the Francistown Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Chinyemba and goalkeeper coach, Wrist Mmusi were shown red for using foul language after the referee, Kutlwano Leso made some questionable calls.
On Saturday, just like in previous matches, TAFIC created several goal scoring opportunities but only managed a solitary goal through Upoga Dekesha.
“I have to admit that I do not have a lot of options in terms of strikers. My main priority in the January transfer window will be to bring two seasoned strikers. Should we get a good striker, our bid for survival will be boosted.”
Although he did not name his targets, Chinyemba is said to be eyeing former Township Rollers and Orapa United forward, Lovemore Murwira amongst others. Murwira trained with TAFIC prior to the start of the season, but was not offered a contract.
Murwira, who is now on the books of First Division North rookies, Calendar Stars has regained his old form and has scored vital goals in the process.
Although his priority is to bring strikers, Chinyemba said there is also a strong possibility that he may bring in a defender or two.
“Our defenders are not playing that bad, but we have often experienced injuries in that department which is why I think it is logical to bring one or two defenders to provide cover.”
Meanwhile, GU coach Rudolf Zapata hailed the presence of Dirang Moloi in his team. “I have no doubt that Moloi is the best player this country has ever produced. With his creative ability, he has been the difference in most of the games we have played this season. He has also been giving some of our young lads guidance on and off the field.”
Moloi signed for GU this season as a free agent and has been showing his old form. He had a telling game on Tuesday and created GU’s last goal with his trade mark defence splitting pass. He also orchestrated moves that resulted in other two goals scored by GU. Zapata added that most of his players are now coming of age, which is why his side has been doing well of recent.
“Based on the players we have and the form we are in, I am confident that we will reach our objective of finishing in the top three this season. As for the Mascom Top 8, where we are in the semi finals, I will take one game at a time,” he said. GU are now second with 20 points, seven behind leaders, Township Rollers.
