Cookout Food festival promises tasteful dishes

This comes after the outdoor event that was scheduled for November 25, 2017 was postponed to December 16, 2017, which is this Saturday. The event coordinators were forced to postpone the event due to a downpour on the date set earlier. 

In this food festival, confectionary experts, spice hubs, mixologist are expected to cater tasteful dishes desired by various food enthusiasts. This event is expected to bring culture, lifestyle and cuisine together to form a festival that will be filled with a variety of entertainment activities conducive for the family.

According to the event coordinator, Thabiso Mauco from Culinary Baron in partnership with Tlotlo Hotel, the sole purpose of the food festival is to unearth culinary expertise and talent. Mauco said chef Kabo Olesitse, who is a local renowned chef and is very strong in the digital space, would be headlining the event. Olesitse is famed with his specialised gourmet dishes with a local touch.

“Our host Chef Olesitse of Kooking with Kabo will have surprise dishes and have one called the Food basket where people from the crowd will have an opportunity to be shot live cooking with him. We will also see different food cultures showing the potential of the food industry in Botswana at this event,” he said.

He pointed out that the objective of the event is to show the potential of the food industry in Botswana by showing how diverse and how it has evolved over the years. He added that it would also show future endeavours that Culinary Baron would bring in 2018.

Mauco said as the culinary, they wanted to place their food culture at par with international standards and show the greatness that Setswana foods prepared by Batswana youth tastes like. He promised that the revelers would taste nothing but delicious traditional dishes made locally.

He added that different food companies, culinary experts would be partaking at the event.

He said there would also be entertainment by local artists such as Yaw Bannerman, E.P.I.C, KY Carter, Djokovic Chrispin, Lady K, DJ Makheno, Big Souls and more. Apart from musical entertainment, there will be kiddies corner and live chefs sessions.

Tickets are sold at P70 early bird, P100 at the gate while children above 12 years of age pay P30.

Those under 12 years are allowed free entry with parental supervision. The event will be held at Tlotlo Hotel in Block 5.
