The Botswana 800m sensation reached the finish line clocking his season’s best in a time of 1:44:24.

The 2012 Olympic Games silver medallist has been battling with injuries for some time now. Despite that, his faith has kept him going. The weekend’s performance was an indication that the 23-year-old is back to the form that made him a household name a few years ago. The resilience from the 800m sensation saw him being rated as one of the best by Kenyan runner, David Rudisha.

Local athletics coach, Justice Dipeba told Mmegi Sport yesterday that winning the Sunday race by Amos was an indication that he is back at the top.  He said Amos is a talented athlete and all he needed was to refocus. “It is an indication that he is ready for the London World Championships.

He is the same Amos that we knew a few years ago.  He has the speed and agility.  The change of training environment has also worked wonders for him,” he said.

He said the change of training environment is important for any athlete if they are do well in any competition.

Dipeba said the US dominate when it comes to 800m and for Amos to be training there is a good thing.

He said his coach, Mark Rowland came up with a different approach to the way Amos takes on his races, adding that the strategy is working.  For the last five years, he has been training in South Africa under a different coach.
