Bright was recently appointed as a replacement for Peter Butler, who parted ways with the national team last month and went on to join South Africa’s Premier Soccer League club, Platinum Stars.

Wanderers’ chairperson, Onkamile Robert said although they had previously learnt about their coach’s link to the Zebras top post from the grapevine, the appointment was ‘sudden’ for them.

He said Bright has done a tremendous job at Wanderers and leaves a good foundation.  He revealed that at the club Bright was assisting all round and had improved the way they did things.

“We must say we have heard about this as rumours before and we could not act on that.  It was a bit of a surprise when he was suddenly appointed, but we wish him well.  He was very instrumental in our processes.  He instilled professionalism in the executive committee and he also instilled discipline in the squad,” he said.

Robert also said Bright was consultative and transparent on how he carried out his job and they knew his plans.

“That will make it easier for us to carry forward,” he said.

Robert said it was also fortunate that the development came while they are in the off-season and, as thus they will swiftly move on. He said they have already appointed their technical director, Benedict Bayani, as a replacement for Bright.

Bayani holds an A-coaching licence and he had previously coached amongst other sides TAFIC and NICO United.  Festus Seitshiro, who was Bright’s understudy will alongside Tsogo Madome assist Bayani.

He said Bayani shares the same philosophy with Bright and his combination with the two assistant coaches will ensure continuity.

“Bayani is a highly qualified coach and he will with immediate effect take over as the head coach.  He has been a good advisor as technical director and he shares the same philosophy as the former coach.

“For the sake of continuity, he is the right man to lead us to the premiership this season.”

He said they have made enough recruitment in the second round of the past season and will not be making drastic changes.

“We have enough players and we believe in the quality we have recruited in the second round.  We will only recruit if we are to lose players,” he said.
