Main Mall hosts Heart of the City carnival this Saturday

Botswana Tourism Organisation is coordinating the event in partnership with African Point Solutions and Epiphany Royals.
The Carnival is an annual event that happens at the end of the year to herald the Christmas season. It will be hosted in and around the Main Mall area under the theme Heart of the City. The carnival is aimed at reviving and celebrating the history of the Main Mall as well as showcasing the diverse cultures of the people of Botswana.
The event will start at the Main Mall in Gaborone at 3pm with an array of events from parades, culinary offerings, fashion show, music festival, chef demonstrations, arts and crafts display. The carnival will showcase a variety of culinary offerings and include celebrity chefs’ demonstrations from Lorna Maseko among others. It will also include a carnival parade of different types of cultures and dances, fashion displays from Botswana, as well as local and international music artists such as Freshly Ground, Mango Groove, Sereetsi and the Natives, Mpho Sebina and Cedric David Ncube. Lone Nthobelang of Epiphany Royals has highlighted that Botswana has a rich heritage of cultural diversity existing within the ethos of the tribes therefore this heritage can be expressed through dress, song, dance, language and food. The carnival will run from 3pm till midnight and tickets are sold for P250.
