Gabasiane told Showbiz in an interview that he is a songwriter, singer and rapper and that he was raised in a musical family. “I was raised in a family of musicians and found out that I could also sing and that’s when I began to sing with my siblings from a very young age” he said.

His siblings include the Queen of Jazz, Puna Gabasiane, My Star 2011 winner; Bianca Gabasiane, Botswana’s renowned artist Edward ‘Senyomfere’ Gabasiane as well as My African Dream 2008 winner Towelah Nkomo.  He highlighted that his music is a fusion of rapping and singing and that he is focused on motivating people to work hard.

He said he also sings about the experiences of life in general, the up and downs of intimate relationships and being broke.  “I don’t speak from the mind nor the heart. I speak from the soul and that is why I do soul music,” he said.

He added that he is different from other artists because he created his own music style which is very rare and he has a unique image. Meanwhile he is working on a mix tape and a single ‘Hingow’ featuring Surry-Sosa which will be pre-launched in August 5, 2017.

The pre-launch will be held at Rula’s Pub in Phase 4, Gaborone. “This pre-launch will be of the most perpetual impact. Gappy Roberts doesn’t settle for less; he is influential, very determined and will surely bring great change in the music industry of Botswana and Africa as a whole” he said.

Gabasiane said that he is most grateful to the support he is receiving from people, especially on social media. “It’s really funny because I don’t understand how people know of my music when I haven’t dropped anything and the love they are giving me is exceptional more so that I’m still an unknown artist,” he added.

He said that he has worked with Obado from Faded Gang and Randy Slic on a track entitled ‘There we go’ produced by Dintle Balole.  “I make music that can reach the quality of the worldwide market,” he said.

He highlighted that he aspires to dominate and eliminate competition by bringing together the whole industry to establish a united and powerful music industry.

He also owns a record label ‘Lincton Kingz’ of which he wishes to expand in the future.  Gabasiane added that he wants to own a music channel, which will feature local artists and promote them
