Duiker led Gunners to a top five finish last season although he held the fort on a caretaker basis following the departure of Daniel ‘Chicco’ Nare in the middle of the season. Gunners’ spokesperson, Edwin Mabapa said although the contract has not been signed yet, an agreement has been reached for Duiker to lead the team next season.

“The contract was supposed to be signed on May 2016. The signing however did not materialise because he has also been held by the national Under-23 commitments,” Mabapa said. Duiker’s clean record towards the end of the season left an impressive mark on the team’s leadership. Since he headed the club in March, he did not register any defeat in more than eight games.

Quizzed on signings, Mabapa said Oabile Mokopo is the only player who has left the club. He said 18 other players have extended their contracts with the team.  He said the supporters’ main interest at the AGM was on the transfer market. He said the supporters wanted to know if they should expect any big name signings, but were told the club is currently trying to deal with numerous debts.

He said they were also told that the club is trying to avoid spending too much next season, but rather to try and improve on what they have. Following the death of former chairperson, Phenyo Gothaang early this year and the resignation of Nare and three committee members, Gunners used the AGM to put their office in order by filling the vacant positions.

Hennel Kaisara who has been acting as an interim chairperson since the passing on of Gothaang was confirmed on the position. Karabo Keogotsitse retained the vice chairperson seat whilst the team agreed to continue having Kefilwe Balaodi as their secretary general. Tsholofelo Kgoadi is her assistant whilst Mabapa continues to be the team’s spokesperson.

Moemedi Ramontshonyana ascended to the team manager seat after the resignation of Kitso Bulang whilst the welfare manager position was accorded to Kabelo Chipura and Malatsi Lethapa is the marketing mananger. Jimaco Ohudile is the treasurer following the resignation of Gaboinewe Mmopi.
