Limkokwing Covers Khakhea Primary School Stay At NWYC

Malaysia is amongst the countries taking part in the tournament. Holding placards that carried delightful welcome messages such as ‘Limkokwing Supports Team Malaysia, Selamat Datang Team Malaysia’, the University’s management, staff and student ambassadors filled the SSKIA Arrival Hall with so much ebullience much to the excitement of the Malaysian Team which displayed so much enthusiasm. Speaking at the Khakhea 2017 NWYC donations launch, which was held immediately after the Malaysia team welcome, Limkokwing University head of public relations, Mercy Thebe stated that, “Our Global University is proud to be part of this international sporting event as we are an institution that is an avid supporter of all sports codes including netball.

Through the esteemed leadership and guidance of the university president, Tan Sri Limkokwing we found it imperative to support Khakhea Primary School which has been nominated to support Malaysia Netball Team by donating P15,000 which will be used to cater food for the entire Khakhea Netball Team throughout the tournament. Malaysia is where Limkokwing University originates from, and where the mother campus of the 12 Limkokwing University campuses located in three continents is located.” She said Limkokwing University mission states that half of the world’s population comprises  youths below the age of 25 which is the age group that will be taking part in the NWYC competition.  Few of these youths are involved in decisions that affect their way of life, their desires, their interests, and their future and as a global institution of higher learning “we strive to create a partnership with  youths (through such events) to build a better world as we envision a time when youths from all parts of the world are engaged to improve all sectors of the world’s socio-economic state”. She said it is the University’s mission to create a global network of youths equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to contribute to world economics and by so doing it is part of our curriculum DNA to mould our students to be active in global events such as the NWYC where their opinions are heard and respected.

Thebe added that the University would host both the Malaysia Netball Team and the Khakhea Netball on an exciting Campus Tour, through a programme that would include workshops on career guidance, motivational talks that shape characters amongst others.

For his part, Member of Parliament for Jwaneng-Mabutsane, Shawn Ntlhaile expressed gratitude to the University’s president Tan Sri Limkokwing, for the kind gesture, saying it would go a long way in ensuring that Khakhea Primary School team would be well taken care of during their entire stay in Gaborone.

He also commended the University for producing quality graduates who are contributing towards the economy of the country, stating that a team of Limkokwing alumni from his village has volunteered to produce a professional documentary showcasing the village’s participation at the Netball World Youth Cup with focus on Khakhea Primary School and Team Malaysia.
