Inflation Falls To 2.9%

The inflation rates for regions between October and November 2017 indicated that rural villages’ inflation decreased to three percent from at 3.3%, cities and towns went up to 3.1% from three percent and urban villages’ dropped to 2.6% from 2.7% between the two months.

The November national Consumer Price Index moved from 103.2 in October 2017 to 103.4 in November 2017, an increase of 0.2%.

The cities & towns’ index realised a rise of 0.2%, moving from 103.2 to 103.4. The transport group index registered an increase of 0.9%, from 101.7 in October to 102.7 in November.

This was owed to the rise in the constituent section index of Operation of Personal Transport, which went up by 1.7%.

The increase in Operation of Personal Transport section index was attributed to the rise in retail pump prices for petrol and diesel by P0.20 per litre each, which effected on 1st November 2017.
