Dont defy your president - Masisi

Speaking at the ruling Botswana Democratic Party's (BDP) 37th elective congress here, Masisi reminded the congress that as Khama has spoken, 'remember to do his wish as he steps down from both party and state presidency.'

Khama has openly declared his strong support for Masisi in his chairmanship re-election bid.  He (Khama) has used party official functions to express his undying support for his deputy.

Masisi's was simply a case of taking advantage of the officialdom to drum up support for his faction.

'I need not over-emphasise on the wishes of Khama,' he said and reiterated his point in the vernacular: ' Gakologelwang gore le dire keletso ya ga tautona (Remember to do as the President pleases).

Just like Khama, Masisi reminded members of his party to remain peaceful and make sober decisions.

'We need peace in our party so that when Khama is in his retirement at GammaNgwato kgotla, he will not have any regrets about the BDP,' said Masisi who eloquently spoke in very rich Setswana.
