New mentor: TAFIC now be under the tutelage of Moyo PIC: KEOAGILE BONANG

Moyo joins after Matjimenyenga recently missed out on the Serbian Dragojlo Stanojlovic who ditched them for a post at Township Rollers.  The Zimbabwean previously came here in the colours of ECCO City Greens. He left the club unceremoniously in 2010 after ending the club’s 17 years trophy-less drought.

He moved around different local top-flight clubs including BMC, currently Gilport Lions, Prisons XI, Orapa United and Mahalapye Hotspurs where he joins from.

Moyo said he is happy to be back in Francistown to join TAFIC. He said he is also happy to be back on the sidelines after spending a season working behind the scenes.

“The city is next to my home country and I have always felt at home here. I spent a season as an advisor at (Mahalapye) Hotspurs and I am also happy to be back coaching again,” he said.

“I have agreed to a two seasons contract and I want to help build TAFIC into a competitive side that will in future challenge for honours. The team has plenty of exciting youngsters and what we only need for now is to rope in a bit of experienced players to complement the young players.” TAFIC spokesperson, Warrant Kolola also confirmed the contract and said the coach will start his duties immediately.

“We have agreed with the coach on a two year contract and with his local experience we are confident he will gradually lead us to the top, where we belong,” he said.

“We have lost a bit of time in our recruitment drive and we are happy Moyo is available to resume his duties immediately and get us back on course.”

Meanwhile, it appears that the cat has jumped out of the bag at Matjimenyenga after a controversial roping in of first division north secretary general, Rapula Gaotlhobogwe and additional member Onalenna Dithakanyane.

Rapula is the club’s new marketing manager while Dithakanyane is the new general manager.

Sources close to the club said the hiring of the two might be seen as confirmation to well-publicised reports of match fixing that had rocked Debswana first division north league last season and alleged favouritism by the league committee towards Matjimenyenga.

The source said appointments of the duo did not sit well with the club’s technical manager and other members and as thus Motaung decided to call it a day at the club.

“There is no conflict of interest in the appointment of Rapula and Dithakanyane,” Kolola said. “We are open to all members and Rapula recently joined our club as a member after the AGM  (annual general meeting) in June.

“As our registered member we thought his administrative acumen in football can take us forward, hence we have roped him in. As for Motaung, we haven’t received a formal communication so I can’t delve on to that for now.”

He said in their quest to meet club-licensing requirements, they have secured a fully operational office and hired Dithakanyane as general manager.

“We are also at an advanced stage in talks with the club doctor and very soon we believe we will be done in that department.”

Meanwhile, Motaung confirmed his exit but chose not to go into details. He has been at the forefront of soliciting sponsorships for the club.

“I can confirm I have left TAFIC as a marketing manager, but I will remain in the sidelines as a supporter and a member,” Motaung said.

“It was not easy reaching this decision after promising the club elders at the AGM that I will take the club forward, which I must be apologetic for but some things that I cannot mention did not go accordingly and those pushed me out.”
