Mogorosi found guilty, fined P5,000

Mogorosi allegedly uttered words that amounted to misconduct and bringing the game into disrepute after he picked up an injury during the physical encounter against the rookies.
On top of the P5,000 fine, the Botswana Premier League (BPL) Disciplinary Committee (DC) has slapped Mogorosi with a three-match suspension.
The suspension will kick off after his fitness report has been presented to the BPL by a qualified medical doctor. Mogorosi is currently on the sidelines after he suffered the injury in the game against Sharps. According to the BPL statement, Mogorosi was initially charged with four counts of misconduct, two of which were later abandoned. “Mogorosi was alleged to have uttered very strong and unpalatable words against the match official and even posted such on social media.
He pleaded guilty to the charges. The DC proceeded to hear submissions from the BPL prosecutor and mitigation by Mogorosi,” BPL chief executive officer (CEO), Thabo Ntshinogang said yesterday. He said after considering evidence and submissions presented, the DC reached a conclusion that the words uttered had an element of insulting and bringing the game into disrepute. The statement further states that although Mogorosi had every reason to feel hard done, uttering such words was unacceptable.
The DC considered that as a seasoned professional, he ought to display exemplary conduct and be a model for all upcoming professionals. He was on top of the two sentences further warned not to repeat the same conduct in the future.
He has been given 10 days to appeal the ruling. The injury has since disturbed his race for the league’s top goal scorer award.
At the time when he suffered the injury, Mogorosi was sitting at the top of the charts with four goals.
He is now three goals behind the leading goal scorers; Keeagile Kobe and Tumisang Orebonye of BDF XI and Gaborone United (GU) respectively. Ofentse Mmipi (Gunners), Omaatla Kebatho (Orapa United), Yusuf Mandawa (BDF XI) and Orebotse Mongae are all tied at six goals each as the season goes into Christmas break. Despite Police XI struggling with form, striker, Hendrick Moyo is amongst the leading goal scorers with five goals. He is tied with Segolame Boy of Rollers, Morris Ruzivo (Sankoyo) and Bonolo Fraizer of Miscellaneous.
