BotswanaPost general manager, marketing and communications Joyce Manase-Ntau said the service is one of their efforts to ensure efficiency in service delivery noting that it will save people time as they would not have to queue to renew licences or postal boxes.
“Teleservices is a welcome solution for the customer as it allows one to remain compliant without the added frustrations of time spent while queuing to renew both vehicle licences and postal boxes as things are done remotely and electronically,” she said.
Manase-Ntau said Teleservices customers are required to have a valid email address and all payments will be done electronically.
She said the first phase will enable customers to call BotswanaPost contact centre to renew their vehicle licences or postal box rentals and make online payments. She said when renewing the vehicle’s licence, one needs to have vehicle registration number, full names of vehicle owners, customer identity document (ID), cellphone number as well as physical address for home or office delivery.
For postal box renewal, one needs to have a postal box or private bag number, ID and cellphone number. For customers within Gaborone, the registration licence can either be delivered at a fee or collected from their postal box. Customers outside Gaborone will collect theirs from their postal boxes.
She said they do deliver to Gaborone and Phakalane with an extra charge while customers beyond those areas have an option of using a post anywhere across the country with turnaround time of two days and a conveyance fee.
Late last year, BotswanaPost introduced a ‘Bulk payment’ service on the renewal of vehicle licence registrations, as part of their efforts to enhance existing partnership with the Department of Road, Transport and Safety (DRTS).
Through the service, individuals and corporates with a fleet of five or more vehicles are allowed to renew their vehicle licences by either dropping off their registration books at the post office and collect them later.
