Beauty pageant add to Phikwe Orange marathon

According to LOC public relations officer, Kennedy Dudzayi, the beauty pageant that is a first for the marathon team, will be held on July 8, at Hotel Selebi from 7pm till late.  Entrance fee for this event is only P50 per person. “This year we wanted to do something exciting for the people of Phikwe.

We want to create more hype around the marathon by staging various activities prior to and post the marathon. Over and above that, we want to showcase and celebrate the beautiful and strong women of Phikwe,” he said referring to the town by its popular epithet.

With over 10 beauties vying for the title, competition is expected to be stiff.

In addition to the bragging rights of being the first ever Orange Phikwe Marathon beauty queen, the winner of the pageant will walk away with P5,000 in cash while the first and second princesses will claim P3,000 and P2,000 respectively. For the rest of the girls who do not make it to the top three, P500 cash is being offered as consolation and appreciation for the effort.

“We are excited about this event and are looking forward to crowning our first ever queen,” Dudzayi gushed. He revealed that the queen will be the race ambassador and the face of the marathon rolled into one. “She will make appearances alongside the LOC at all charity events and other ceremonies geared towards promotion of the race,” Dudzayi added.

He encouraged Selebi Phikwe residents and the surrounding areas to come and behold the spectacle of the first ever Miss Orange Phikwe Marathon.

“They should come out in large numbers and be part of history-making,” he said.
