Mangwegape told Showbiz that his love for art began when he was six-years-old saying that growing up he was shy and always isolated himself from others.

“I confined (myself) to art for comfort and spent most of my time drawing,” he added. He said that his upbringing was no crystal stair, as they struggled to make ends meet, especially in the absence of his father.

Mangwegape said that single mother, Gobitsa Mangwegape who is also his mentor, raised him.  He said his mother had given continuous faith and support towards the brand.

“She is the strongest person I know.  She doesn’t give up easily and always ensures that she achieves her goal,” he said.

Gold Dice is an urban brand that represents success, courage and triumph and was officially launched in 2010. The brand has a variety of quality clothing for all seasons including sweaters, caps, crop tops, t-shirts and trousers. The label is vibrant, colourful and most suitable for young people.

“The three dots on the dice resemble my family being my mother, sister Keletso and myself.  The dice basically means that life is unpredictable, you never know what to expect and when to expect it,” he said.  He added that the most important thing is to remain determined and have courage.

Mangwegape also highlighted that his first edition was at the Jwaneng Arts Exhibition in 2013 and that he also showcases his work on social media as it gives his brand a platform to reach out to many people.

He said that Vincent ‘Koola’ Matthys, who is an artist, was the brand ambassador and advertised the label.

“The label is doing exceptional well and we are actually having increased orders and sales,” he said.

Mangwegape complained about not having enough funds to grow his brand as well as people who delay in settling payments for his commodities.

“Sometimes they don’t pay at all, but I’m blessed because my mother and sister are very supportive.  They financially assist me in terms of buying all the materials I need for my production.”

He said that as time goes on and when the label is fully developed and is widely known,  he aspires to open a store as well as an art gallery to display his creations.
