Merry Xmas and seasons greetings

Botswana is not an exception and as majority of our people are Christians, they will join their fellow Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on Monday.

Not all of us are in a festive mood. It will be a tough festive seasons for most of Batswana who had lost their precious jobs.

Every year hundreds of thousands of compatriots are retrenched from work for various reasons. It is a sad reality of life. The life of an employee! Like the previous years, we have added new members to the terrible ranks of unemployment.

Their dreams shattered in their face. Beneficiaries will be affected but we plead with anybody in that situation not to lose faith.

Those fortunate in life must continue the spirit of giving, not only during festive, but throughout the year. Remember, blessed is the hand that gives.

But life continues, and just like last year or any other year before, people around this time are busy travelling to different destinations.

Like we said before, we encourage fellow citizens to exercise caution on the roads. The message from the police is always the same: Exercise caution especially during the festive season.

Criminals take advantage of the festive season to help themselves to other people’s properties. We must guard against that. Let us all deny the criminals the opportunity to steal from us. Let us help the police have zero tolerance of crime.

Majority of the people are travelling and we plead with fellow road users to avoid road carnage at all cost.

Since the beginning of the year, we have lost so may lives due to road accidents. This time around, we can change that if we obey traffic signs and respect each other on busy roads. Before you travel make sure that your vehicle is road-worthy and please avoid drinking and driving. We are happy that the traffic cops are taking stern action against the law-breakers. We pray that the year 2018 will bring prosperity to all of us. We should all strive to 2018 as a fruitful, productive and rewarding year.

Let us build a prosperous Botswana. We take this opportunity to wish our valued readers and advertisers a Merry Christmas and complements of the new season in advance.

Today’s thought

“Christmas is joy, religious joy, an inner joy of light and peace.”
