BMD NEC Might Ignore Constitution At Congress Morima

The expelled members, who include president, Ndaba Gaolathe, vice president, Wynter Mmolotsi, Women’s league president, Joyce Mothudi, Pako Keokilwe, Harriet Rampa, former BMD youth president Phenyo Segokgo, are banking on the congress to save them.

The BMD congress will be held in two weeks time and in its constitution, article 14.3 gives it the right and power to review, ratify, alter or rescind any decision taken by any of the constituent bodies, organs, units or officials of the movement before election of NEC.

“The congress is the highest body of the BMD, but already there are rumours that NEC is intending to bring a tight security at the congress and it would not allow certain party constitution  clauses to be followed.”

“If delegates were manipulated then one wonders how it would turn out at the congress. This clauses might be scrapped off so that chaos could start for them to postpone the congress so that the current NEC may continue to be in the office,” Morima said.

Morima said the Gaolathe team has already gathered on how Nehemiah Modubule/Gilbert Mangole team want to frustrate them at the congress.

However the political analyst says a new party might be born after Bobonong congress if the party constitution is not followed.

He said the reality on the ground would now be clear on who has following of members.

According to a press release written by BMD secretar,y Mangole, six out of seven were found guilty as charged because they never appeared before disciplinary hearing. The six expelled according to Mangole had attended an illegal meeting that was not sanctioned by the party.

The secretary general said Kabelo Mahupe was discharged without prejudice.

The MP for Gaborone central Phenyo Butale said; “Our team does not take that expulsion serious and our eyes are fixed on the congress. There is no one who will derail us from standing on what we believe is the truth”.
