Morobosi organisers blame bank delays for Heavy K saga

The organisers are adamant that they remunerated the award-winning artist long before the event took place, and blame bank delays for the unforeseen saga. 

Heavy K’s organisers have confirmed that indeed Morobosi organisers made a payment, but it arrived on January 5, 2018 hence the reason for not showing up at the event. 

But according to one of the event’s organisers Phaf Phafana, the payment was done on December 22, 2017 and their bank later confirmed on December 27, 2017 that the payment has been made. 

“We don’t know what transpired with Heavy K’s bank, but it looks like the money was declared late.  What we can confirm is that we paid him,” he said. 

Phafana was quick to highlight that they are still sorting out the issue so that they can retrieve their money since Heavy K was unable to perform.  He said they do not know why Heavy K took the matter to social media since their initial agreement was not done publicly.

We will try to conclude this issue properly. We are still waiting for their response so we will take it from there. Phafana said they have tried to protect Heavy K’s brand since he is a big artist, but at the same time he is busy tarnishing their brand. 

However, the SA artist who goes by the name Heavy K Drumboss on Facebook posted a statement detailing his side of the story.

“The promoter in question failed to make the payment on time and on numerous occasions insisted that the payment was done. He later said that South African band Black Motion would be paying the balance and that Heavy K should proceed to perform in Botswana,” read the statement. 

Last Friday Heavy K also posted evidence of the payment done.  He further accused Phafana of breaching the contract by not paying within the stipulated time.
