Poets Treat Audience To Rich Setswana Poetry

Most of the poets dished rich Setswana poems filled with mainane, dithamalakane, maele and other language components. Amongst them was Gosego Letsatsi, a talented poet accompanied by a young man who shocked the house with his beautiful ullulating skills.
That young man stole the limelight, as the crowd cheered for him whilst others could not seize praising his ululating skills besting it over most women’s. Black African Poetry also treated the audience with her poetry titled We Are The Quote Of Many Colours. The poem was a fusion of English, Setswana and Sekgalagadi languages.
Her phrase, dilo tsa ka kwano ga di tshwane le tsa ka kwa, le dilo tsa ka kwa ga di tshwane le tsa ka kwano (meaning things done by people from different countries and cultures will never be the same) gained popularity amongst her newfound fans.
Maturing poetry and Matlhaolosa Poetry Ensemble also blew the audience away with their immense talents. Matlhaolosa Poetry Ensemble are three boys whose knowledge and power to recite rich Setswana poems left the audience stunned. The young men took advantage of the event to show off their talents and prove to fellow young people that indeed being proud of their culture and language was a beautiful thing.
They also showered Moreri for mentoring them. Other poets who shared their talents with the audience included Tsiki Tsiki and Kaone Mahuma, who also did exceptionally well. Nchunga Nchunga, whose stage name is Chuchuchu, together with Baba Flo blessed the audience with gospel performances.
Lekunutu Le Morena singer, Bafana “Phempheretlhe” Pheto also treated the audience with beautiful performances. The pre-launch could not have been complete without the day’s bride Nkokowe Band’s performances. As usual, Moreri and his talented band members were able to treat the audience with most of his beautiful pieces from their new album.
Giving his speech, Nchunga urged the public to support local talent by buying their work and sharing it through social media to raise awareness. He pointed out that it was expensive to record and give the audience quality entertainment and therefore urged the public to support local artists.
