BDP purges NYEC of six members

The members faced disciplinary hearing after an attempt to oust Moabi as their leader. This was after the chairperson expelled Bruce Nkgakile from the committee.
The suspended members are Thabo Autlwetse, Onneile Foxx Segwai, Bruce Nkgakile, Thatayaone Serema, Bonang Morapedi, Kitso Mazebedi, Sekano Bodio and Patience Kaego. Kabo Ketshogile who was suspended had already resigned before the disciplinary hearing took place.
Serema and Kaego resigned from the party today after receiving the verdict.
Former Chairperson hopeful Ronald Kgathi has been Co-opted to replace Thabo Utlwetse as Secretary General. Tuelo Metseyabeng who was former additional member was appointed Treasurer replacing Bruce Nkgakile
Batsweletse Kgagametsi is now Deputy Secretary General.
New additional members are:
Tony Sebabi
Otsile Machona
Bone Letlole
Ronald Lekokoma
Lebogang Katlholo.
According to NYEC chairperson Simon Moabi, there was no need to call a special congress as only six out of 18 members were suspended.
He said the constitution only dictates a special congress when more than one third are no longer part of the NYEC.
