Fake Olopeng account raises musicians hopes

It has now come to light that the Facebook post allegedly belonging to Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYSC) minister, Thapelo Olopeng promising that 20 musicians would be sponsored with P100,000 each, is fake.

The fake statement was posted on Monday and by Tuesday it had already been shared more than 600 times.

“If you are a musicians or a footballer and you want my full support in your career. Am ready to support and promote you now and am giving the first 20 musician that are very good after passing the interview BW100, 000 each to start a new life to move forward in life..may God help me..good morning (sic),” read the statement.

People on social media started tagging musicians alike, but the shared message soon proved to be too good to be true as Olopeng took to the platform to invalidate reports on his official account with the name ‘Hon Thapelo Olopeng’.

“Good morning friends. Please ignore the below message. It’s fake. The culprits will regret their actions soon,” Olopeng clarified in his Facebook post.
