Gaborone Senior Secondary School (GSSS) students had a chance to mingle and get entertainment from some of their favourite local artists.  Local artists like renowned Ban T of Naomi, Ammo Ski Mask, Yummy, DJ Guyvos, DJ Ricky Lamar and others treated their young fans with spectacular Edutainment performances and motivational speeches on Friday.

The artists grouped themselves under the Bokamoso Edutainment Tour to educate students on different issues including drugs and alcohol abuse, pre sexual intercourse engagement, teenage pregnancy, HIV and others.  The energetic artiste Ban T who was the students’ favourite performed a number of songs. Like in many events, his song Naomi was the most popular.

The young artiste also invited a few students to come and perform his song as their peers cheered while some sung along. He also gave one of the students his red sweater as a souvenir.   “I used to have insecurities about myself and never had any self-confidence when I was your age.

I later on learnt that in order to succeed I needed to believe in myself and not let any naysayer get me down. Please believe in yourselves, you will go far,” he advised. Tshiamo Molefhe also known as Ammo Ski Mask treated the students to a spectacular performance.

He just like Ban T blessed the students with some words of encouragement. He told them to always stay focused and work hard to achieve their dreams. He encouraged them to ignore negative commends or deeds that other people do and focus on their future.

Yummy who also seemed to be amongst the students favourites asked them to refrain from or avoid engaging in social ills such as sexual intercourse, which could lead to pregnancy, STDs and others. “Boys I would also want to tell you that it is not cool to have sex with too many girls.

You may think you are cool but you are not. Respect and take care of your sisters. Save yourselves till your bodies are fully grown,” he said. DJ Ricky Lamar who also treated the students with beautiful beats also shared a few words of encouragement. The students were later treated with beautiful house music and other genres where they danced the evening away.

They had filled the school hall to its maximum capacity and their excitement and eagerness to hear words of wisdom from their role models indicated that indeed the event was successful as most of them vowed to adhere to the advise they were given.
