The game will be played at a neutral venue in Nata on Saturday.

The encounter was decided after Morupule Wanderers won their appeal against the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Disciplinary Committee in their case with Sua Flamingoes.

After the BFA appeals board ruling, Morupule is safe while Chobe, who gained soft points will play GNT to decide who relegates.

Chobe gained soft points from their failed fixture against Satmos, which means without the soft points, the Kasane side falls below GNT. The First Division North secretary general, Rapula Gaothobogwe said this is what has necessitated the play-off.

“We have notified the concerned clubs at the past general assembly two weeks ago and we have also sent a formal communiqué to the clubs with the logistics of the game. There will be a pre-match meeting to finalise the specifications of the match two hours before the game,” Rapula said.

The Kasane-based club chairperson, Bogosing Bogosing said they are aware of the play-off match after it was mentioned at the assembly.

He said the team is back after the off-season and resumed training last week.

“We are not aware of the dates and the venues of the game yet but we started our training on June 13,” he said.

“We will be available to play when called, but we have questions that are yet to be answered and an outstanding issue before the compliance board at BFA.”

GNT chairperson, Thebeetsile Motswaeng also said they were not informed of the dates but they have been training with the knowledge that a match will be played.

“We always knew a game has to be played after Morupule won their case and we re-grouped our team. We heard about the match again at the general assembly but we are in the dark about the dates and the venues but we will play when we are ordered to,” he said.

GNT have fallen from grace as they played in the Premier League at one stage.
