'The constituencies belong to the UDC and allocated to the parties to manage and choose best candidates. Even after each party elects their preferred candidate, we will scrutinise the candidates and replace those we deem not fit enough by those we think can win it for us from any party under the UDC,' he said at a Botswana National Front (BNF) press conference this morning.

Boko said there are already some constituencies where some parties have identified strong candidates from partner parties they would like to see represent them.

During their congress rerun in Lobatse, BMD president Sidney Pilane said the 14 constituencies belong to the BMD and that they would find strong candidates to field in all of them.

There has been a debate amongst UDC members on what should happen to BMD constituencies as the party was deemed stronger than it was following the departure of some members including five MPs who joined its splinter party, Alliance for Progressives.
