Drago announced the Francistown side had failed to guarantee who exactly at the club was going to be responsible for his salary. After the breakdown in talks, TAFIC said they are ready to move on. “We had sat down with the coach, negotiated terms and all the parties agreed to those terms in principle and alterations were to be made in the contract,” club spokesperson, Warrant Kolola said.

He said the coach advised the club that the contract did not cater for his travels to his home country in the festive season break and it was agreed that a clause in that respect will be included in the contract.

“That is as far as the agreement went. We were both happy and the coach spent two days with us after which he took the contract for further revising. All that was left was to secure a house for him and his family which we did.”

Kolola said after the team learnt of Stanojlovic snub, they will switch focus. He said they have a list of other coaches who had applied alongside the Serbian and they are pressed for time.

He said all the coaches who had applied for the Matjimenyenga top post are foreigners from Zimbabwe and Zambia although others are engaged in the local flight league.

“Time is not on our side and we have to move on. We have left recruitment of players to the new coach and the process has stalled. We will announce a new coach at least by the end of the week.”

“We released all of our foreign players and we want to start registrations so that we can start processing work permits for both the coach and the new foreign players that we will be registering.

“We have tournaments lined up early in our pre season and our initial plan was to be one step ahead in preparing the squad and by now the team should be shaping up,” he said.

Kolola said they have released nine players but the first team is still intact as per the recommendation of the current coach.

He said the new coach will further assess the team and they will act on his recommendations as to who to release and recruit. Meanwhile, a number of players among them, Master Masitara, Shoes Selefa and others from clubs such as Nico United and Green Lovers are trying their luck at TAFIC.
