BISA Product Makes Team To Bahamas

The Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA) sports development officer, Healer Modiradilo said he discovered Galelemogwe’s talent last year during the BISA games. Modiradilo said he called up Galelemogwe to be part of a one-week development camp, which was meant to train and nurture boxers last year.
He said what makes Galelemogwe a unique boxer is that he has good physical structure. He is also skilful, disciplined and is a hard worker. Modiradilo said he expects him to go to Bahamas and do his level best. “This boy is a workaholic. With this type of commitment, I expect him to go up to the medal stage,” Modiradilo said.
Modiradilo was here over the weekend during the BISA games to monitor Galelemogwe’s performance. Galelemogwe spoke to Monitor Sport after taking less than a minute to knock down his opponent in the first round.
He said he was happy to be selected to represent his country. “I am so excited that my name is going to be written in the history books for being one of Lotsane Senior Secondary School students to represent Botswana in an international competition,” he said.
Galelemogwe said he was happy with the encouragement he was getting from his parents, his teacher, Mmoloki Bapasi and his coach at school, Kealeboga Bakang. He said he learnt a lot from last year’s training camp, which was held in Gaborone. He said the camp transformed him into a better boxer.
Galelemogwe promised to represent the country well. Bapasi, who is Galelemogwe’s teacher at Lotsane, said he put a lot of effort on the boxer until the national selectors recognised his talent. Bapasi said what makes Galelemogwe the best boxer is the way he applies his techniques.
“Most of the young boxers here are not able to apply their techniques in a proper way. They are just fast and not considerate with what they are doing,” he said. Bapasi said for Galelemogwe, it is a different story as he is able to take control of the ring. Bapasi said Galelemogwe knows how to defend himself against his opponents.
“He does not fly like a chicken, he is not a chicken, he relaxes and delivers the best,” he said. Bapasi labelled Galelemogwe as Botswana’s future boxing star.
He said Batswana should expect something from Bahamas as he believes in the skills and the ability of his boxer.
Galelemogwe will leave for Bahamas together with fellow countryman, Treasure Moremi of 56kg, while Galelemogwe weighs 64kg.
