Marumo who holds the same position at South Africa’s PSL Premiership side, Polokwane City has already begun his duties as he was spotted drilling the Zebras keepers in a training session at Lekidi Football Centre on Tuesday evening.

Botswana Football Association (BFA) communications and marketing manager, Tumo Mpatane said they have acquired the services of the former Zebras number one, but did not reveal the duration of the contract.

“Marumo is back. He will be here whenever there is a national team camp. He will not leave his club post. He will be working like his predecessors and join us whenever we go into camp,” he said.

The BFA is yet to appoint a new coach with Boyo ‘Oris’ Radipotsane holding fort. Under-17 goalkeeper coach, Kagiso Tshelametsi has been appointed Marumo’s deputy.

Marumo was part of the national team setup since 1998, where he was capped more than 50 times.

He was the number one gloves man at the Zebras maiden Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) appearance in 2012 in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea where he conceded nine times in 270 minutes.

Meanwhile, Mpatane said the recruitment of the new Zebras coach would start after the COSAFA Cup and African Nations Championship (CHAN) preliminary round. According to reports, Radipotsane is a favourite for the job.

“Oris has a chance to prove himself. He has been around for a long time. He is taking the team to COSAFA, he will have to use the chance. We will, however, name the new gaffer after the CHAN games and whoever is interested would forward their CVs after then,” Mpatane said. Radipotsane is said to have been given the liberty to choose his number two and has opted for BDF XI’s Louis Setshwane ahead of Mogomotsi Mpote of Township Rollers.
