Moluba called me mokwerekwere, insulted my parents - Phiri

Phiri was sent off in a feisty, tempestuous BTC Premiership affair which ended 1-1 on Tuesday night at the UB Stadium.

Speaking to Mmegi Sport this morning, Phiri said after he was red carded, Moalosi uttered insulting words targeted at his parents, and also called him a mokwerekwere.

Phiri reacted angrily and slapped ‘Moluba’ which sparked a brawl, resulting in the sending off of Rollers’ Joel Mogorosi and strike partner, Mthokozisi Msomi, who are likely to face a charge of violent conduct.

“The referee was not on our side. With Msomi, he elbowed me and I pushed him and he fell. As I was walking out after the red card, Moalosi insulted me in front of one of our players and the referee was not far.  Moalosi was insistent and followed me saying ‘this is Rollers, you mokwerekwere’,” Phiri said.

Moalosi had not responded to Mmegi Sport’s inquiry at press time. However, last night, he took to his Facebook page and said: “'Let us see what happens this time. Always the victims have to suffer. Hahaa sad.'

TAFIC coaches, Mmoloki ‘Wrist’ Mmusi and Rapelang ‘Razor’ Tsatsilebe were earlier sent off for questioning match officials’ decisions.

Botswana Premier League chief executive officer, Thabo ‘Styles’ Ntshinogang said indiscipline will not be tolerated and his office will act swiftly after the incident.

“It was very ugly and totally unacceptable. Those who are wrong should immediately be brought before our judicial structures to account,” Ntshinogang said.

Mogorosi and Msomi will now miss the Mascom Top 8 encounter against Jwaneng Galaxy this weekend.
