Soldier in hot soup for providing false info

 

Mogomotsi was arrested for using a relative’s passport to exit and enter Botswana.

The state alleges that on May 4, 2017, the accused person presented a relative’s passport in the names of one Gotlaitse Mogomotsi at Ramatlabama border post in a bid to enter the country from South Africa whilst he knew it did not belong to him.

He was arrested on the same day at Ramatlabama border post on his return trip in transit to Gaborone. The accused was subsequently detained at Ramatlabama Police Station on the fateful day.

In a brief appearance yesterday, the state prosecutor, Sub-inspector Dumani Chakasala said investigations into the case were complete.

He further said: “Investigations into the case are complete and the facts will be ready in the next appearance,” Chakasala briefly said.

The accused is on bail and will appear again on July 4. Magistrate Thekololo Letsholo presides over the case.

In another matter, a state prosecutor in a case in which a 26-year- old Lobatse man, Oteng Kefitlhile faces charges of murder and unlawful wounding yesterday revealed that investigations into the case were nearing completion.

Kefitlhile faces charges of allegedly stabbing a 19-year-old Lobatse Senior Secondary School (Lob Sec) student, Khumo Kgotlaetsile to death in a stabbing spree on the eve of Independence day back in 2015.

Seven more people were also stabbed, but they were later released from hospital.

Sub-inspector Bakani Tsayang of Woodhall police station said even though the accused is reportedly hospitalised, his case will soon be forwarded to the DPP and subsequently committed to the High Court.

“The investigations into the matter are nearing completion and the matter will soon be forwarded to DPP for assessment of evidence and possible prosecution.

The accused is reportedly hospitalised. However, the case will soon be finalised and committed to the High Court,” Tsayang said.
