Lady Khama Charity Trust events back and bigger

This event is divided into three categories. It will kick-start with the Family Fun Day, which is sponsored by Avani Hotel and Casino.  Trust chairperson, Dale ter Haar told Showbiz that the annual event comprises several activities to keep all members of the family entertained throughout the day. He said there will be a Kids Park where they will bring new things for all age groups.

He said for the younger ones, the Food Farm Team will host the Kids Park, by bringing the MaPa Lounge, which is new.  “This lounge will provide a comfortable waiting area for parents, a self-Service Pick-a-Pick Nick, clear view of your children and the main area, Bricks’4’Kids, clowns and face painting.

For the independent ones, a bigger variety of jumping castles, Kings Camps activity set up races such as sack race, three-legged race and ball and spoon race which is also new in this category,” he said.  For the Teens, he said there will be game booths with prizes sponsored by Spar, which is also a new game, Karaoke with stage and cricket batting cages for free instruction with the Botswana National Cricket team.

As for the older folk, this time around they will be treated with the Chill Step Pop-Up Gallery House (a walk through display of local arts and culture), which is new in this group of people. Mafitlhakgosi Traditional Dance Troup and a mobile sports pub will also treat the mums and dads with traditional games.

He said there will also be live music from Cedric, Fifi and Liesel, DJ’s Homie, Shoes and the EDM Rangers from Chill Step Sundays. Ter Haar added that the event will also have a variety of food stalls, including Sweats from Heaven and Marcells (sweets tooth), Zest giving vegetarians option to buy vegetarian foods, Health Generation who specialises in smoothies, Chicken Licken and Grawas Farming (Halaal/BMC), Avani & MECK (all day lunch). The Family Fun Day will be held on July 29, 2017 at the Gaborone Cricket Club (BCA Oval). It will start at 10am till 5pm

and entry fee will be P50 for adults and children under 12 years will be allowed free. The other LKCT charity events on the pipeline include the President’s Day Cup Challenge and the Lady Khama Urban Obstacle Course. All the events will be held on the same day as the Family Fun Day. Both events will be held at the same venue and will start in the morning.

The Lady Khama Urban Obstacle Course registration fee is P600 per team of four.  It includes Spar goodie bag, free entry to Spar Chill Arena and Lady Khama Family Fund Day.

This is a trail race with obstacles along the route; the race will start and finish at the Lady Khama Family Fun Day venue, the BCA Oval (Cricket Club).  According to ter Haar, this activity has been designed to encourage teamwork and is not for the faint-hearted.

He said team members should have different physical and mental strengths, as each obstacle will test those abilities and the best and only way to achieve them will be to work as a team. The registration for the President’s Day Cup Challenge costs P10,000 for a team of 25.

It includes free entry to the Family Fun Day area and a group picture of the winning team with President Ian Khama.  “The Lady Khama Charitable Trust Patron watches this fundraiser with a ‘keen eye’, as he is a competitor in one of the activities. This is a thrilling competitive event, which is only open to eight organisations.

Be sure not to miss out on this all-day challenge that includes five-a-side football, bike race, sprint relay and the crowd-pleasing tug-of-war,” he said.
