This follows the departure of Peter Butler who has since joined Platinum Stars in South Africa.  Close sources have said the BFA has approached Bright, forcing Wanderers to start a search for a new coach for next season.  Boyo Radipotsane was asked to take charge of the Zebras following Butler’s resignation.

“I don’t know anything about that offer. I am in Palapye where I am helping Morupule and I am focused on that,” Bright said. When quizzed if he would listen to the Zebras offer if tabled, he simply said: “No”. BFA spokesperson, Tumo Mpatane said at the moment the BFA has not approached anyone.

He said they would not want to cloud Radipotsane’s camp with issues of recruitment. “It’s only fair that we give Boyo space to focus on the COSAFA Cup.  We don’t want to disturb his judgement and mind with the recruitment process,” Mpatane said.

“The association is interested in the best man possible who can take us forward and the recruitment process will start at the necessary time.” Bright is one of the most decorated local coaches.

He is the former coach of Under-23 team dubbed the Dream Team, which came agonisingly close to qualifying for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

The team won the Four Nations cup in China and was runners up to Cameroon in the Sasol Eight Nations tournament in South Africa. He left the Under-23 team in 2007 to join South Africa’s Engen Santos after the BFA failed to offer him a contract.

In South Africa, Bright had spells with Santos, Bay United, Thanda Royal Zulu, Sivutsa Stars, FC Cape Town and Black Leopards amongst others.

Locally, he made his name at Mogoditshane Fighters leading them to back-to-back league champions in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Bright also had spells with local giants Township Rollers and Gaborone United.
