Botswana Police Service spokesperson, assistant commissioner, Witness Bosija told Mmegi that Adolphius Mogakolodi Legae (23) of Kanye was arrested in the North West province on Sunday.

“We are still waiting for the extradition process because he has pending criminal cases of rape and armed robbery,” Bosija said.

Bosija applauded their partnership with South African police for the arrest of the fugitive. Legae is currently on bail for pending cases of rape and armed robberies he had allegedly committed whilst on bail. He allegedly committed five other cases of rape and armed robbery.

Together with his co-accused, Mogomotsi Thupane (34) of Moshupa village, they have been linked to a string of armed robberies in Gaborone and the Southern district.

The police recently announced that Legae might also help them with investigations in a rape case that occurred in Gaborone West between May 31 and June 1. The duo is also suspects in an armed robbery case at Saverite supermarket in Moshupa that occurred between May 31 and June 1 where they walked away with an undisclosed amount of money.

They (Legae and Thupane) were also suspected to have been involved in an incident in which a woman of Kanye village was allegedly shot on the night of May 31.

A sum of P38,000 and a vehicle suspected to have been used by the suspects were recovered following the arrest of Thupane at Gaborone West location a week ago. Thupane also has 11 cases of armed robbery pending before court.
