Davids� murder accused hire attorneys

 

Attorney Sesupo Masaka representing accused person, Jabulani Dube agreed with the prosecution that his client be remanded for 14 days to allow investigations to be completed.

“At times it is advisable that we work together with the prosecution to allow due process as such we will not be pursuing bail application,” he said.

Francistown-based attorney Mishingo Jeremia representing co-accused Mokgalemi Maleya also agreed noting that they conversed with the prosecution and that they had no objection to remaining in police custody. 

He submitted that the accused had no representation at the first mention therefore he just got instructions from him and that they agreed not to pursue bail for now. 

“We have it in good authority that the police are doing all to wind up the investigations.  Any application will be dealt with when the matter is at the Directorate of Public Prosecutions,” he submitted.

Earlier on the prosecuting officer, Daniel Katse asked for further remand in custody of the accused persons on account that the investigations were still ongoing.

He was ready to call the investigating officer to update the court on the matter when both defence lawyers agreed that there was no need.  The accused persons appeared before magistrate Lindiwe Makgora and will appear for mention again on February 13, 2018.
