Miss Winter builds young womens self esteem

In an interview with Showbiz, the pageant organiser Lorato Kolobetso said they want the pageant to boost young women’s self-esteem and believe that they are worthy and have the ability of making the world a better place. Kolobetso said she came up with the pageant concept because she realised that her hometown had many unearthed talents that needed to be exposed to the world.

She said the beauty pageant will have both the fashion show and talent show that will help boost young women’s talents and also showcase winter fashion trends.

“Miss Winter beauty pageant also focuses on fashion, emphasising on winter wear. I have realised that most people tend to lose their fashion sense in winter. Many people don’t look good during the winter season. Some do it the wrong way trying to keep their sexy look intact more especially women.

You would find a person going to work on a short dress and a light jersey. That is wrong. There are many ways you can look glamorous in winter. We will be having a fashion show where our contestants will showcase different fashion trends ideal for winter,” she said.

Kolobetso added that there are simple and yet beautiful fashionable styles that women could adopt. She said 10 contestants aged between 19 and 25 years will be battling for the crown. The pageant will also have a talent show where contestants will be showcasing their different talents. The young woman also called on local designers and boutique owners to use the event to showcase their products.

“I call on local fashion designers and boutique owners to sponsor this event by dressing our contestants. This will also give them an opportunity to sell their products to the general public,” she said.

Psycho Kingz dance crew, Extra Kay, Upper Life-Nergvng and some the local DJ’s such as DJ El Tonic, DJ Spykos and DJ Ludah will be entertaining the revellers on the day. The masters of ceremony will be Calvin Kuli Chana and Miss P.

The pageant will take place at Mahalapye’s Ozone Club on July 1, 2017 at 9pm. Tickets are sold at P30 per person and entrance fee will cost P40 at the gate.
