Speaking during the partnership launch, Bokamoso chief executive officer, Andre Ackerman said the hospital will provide medical professionals at the games to attend to players. He said services for injuries and others will be provided at the hospital for free since all the costs are included in the P1-million cover.

“We are proud to be the official health care provider to the athletes. Therefore, supporting NWYC 2017 would promote netball as a sporting code for Botswana and encourage more people to live healthy,” Ackerman said. He said the hospital is determined to build partnerships with key stakeholders that will show their commitment to quality and affordable health care.

The games’ mascot, Naletsana has been receiving medical assessment from the hospital for free to determine if she is fit for the tournament. Athletes’ medical assessment and fitness doctor, Dr Lesedinyana Odiseng confirmed that Naletsana had passed all the medical assessment. He said they have examined her heart, pulse, injuries and had encouraged her to keep exercising, which will help her  maintain her fitness.

NWYC Local Organising Committee chairperson, Prisca Mokgadi said she considers Bokamoso’s sponsorship as a special one since they deal with players’ health issues.

“This sponsorship gives us assurance that our athletes will be under good care medically. You cannot do anything without health,” she said. However, Mokgadi thanked all sponsors and partners “who have found it fit to be part of the legacy.” He added that Batswana have been responding positively to their pleas. She said the government has been very supportive and providing for their need.

“We are still negotiating with some other partners but we are open and we will be always accommodating sponsors even during the games,” she said.
