This is after his remand of warrant was extended on the basis that the prosecution had not wrapped up its investigations.

Appearing before Broadhurst magistrate, Gaseitsewe Tonoki, Phadisa said he is concerned that the prosecution is taking long to complete its investigations.

“I also wonder whether its appropriate for the prosecutor to lie to the court because in the previous mention, he said investigations are complete, but now he says they are still investigating,” he said.

However, prosecutor Sergeant Mothusiotsile Mekgwe said their investigations are almost complete, but they are only left with compiling the photo album. He stated that offences such as murder could take up to six months to investigate.

“Otherwise we are ready to refer the docket to DPP (Directorate of Public Prosecutions) for assessment of evidence and possible prosecution,” Mekgwe said.

It is alleged that Phadisa murdered his girlfriend, Bembe Magosi, and her mother, Gomolemo Motladiile, at Phiring location in Broadhurst by stabbing them to death with a knife on September 30, 2017.
