G/North murder trial nears completion

 

In the long dragging matter, five men, Lebang Thabo Ntesi, Phemelo Tshelang, Gorata Sebego, Patrick Gaile and Mpho Mangwa, all residents of Oodi village in the Kgatleng District, were on trial for the murder of Olebogeng Ramapulane.

The five are alleged to have murdered Ramapulane, who was a Security Systems night watchman on the night of August 28, 2013 at Tuwana Construction Camp site at Gaborone North farms.

When the accused persons appeared before Chief Justice Maruping Dibotelo on Wednesday, attorney Bokani Machinya, representing the Mangwa said the defence has closed its case following re-examination of the witness.

The court then set February 23 and March 23, 2018 as the dates to serve final written submissions for the state and defence respectively. 

Dibotelo also said he would hand down the judgement on April 18, 2018.

The defence team is made up of attorney Wema Isa representing Ntesi, attorney Isiah Letlole representing Tshelang, attorney Maswabi Mwando Maswabi for Sebego, attorney Eddie Babuseng for Gaile and Machinya representing Mangwa. Farayi Mahwite represents the state.
