Thieving Fake Doctor Faces More Charges

Extension II Magistrate, Ntombizodwa Ncube last week convicted Dithebe of stealing a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

Dithebe is alleged to have some time in April stolen the phone valued at P11,000 from a Metropolitan Life insurance sales consultant, Koziba Mpedi. It is alleged that Dithebe had forged a Princess Marina Hospital (PMH) doctor’s identity card with his picture under the names of Dr Karabo Jackson.

The seemingly remorseful Dithebe told the court of how he committed the crime and the complainant was given an opportunity to plead with the court for compensation.

Keorapetse Seleke, who represents the state, told court that they were still awaiting information on Dithebe’s previous convictions.

It was alleged that Dithebe lured Mpedi to PMH claiming that he was going to sign up for a policy from Mpedi before fleeing with his phone after asking to use it to call while they were at PMH.

It has since emerged that more cases are looming for Dithebe. He appeared before the same magistrate on Tuesday facing another similar case.

It is alleged that Dithebe fled with a cellphone belonging to a shop assistant from a certain shop after he had asked to use it to call his younger sister to bring him money to settle his bill.

Information reaching The Monitor is that more people are coming forth to the police to open cases against Dithebe. One of the victims, whose case is yet to reach court, told The Monitor that Dithebe disappeared with his phone at PMH after he had asked to use it.

“I had given him a lift from Molepolole and told him I had intentions of selling the car. He told me he liked it and wanted to buy it.

He came the following day to buy the car. We left to the bank and while on our way he said he needed to get something from his office and vanished as I looked for parking,” she said. The victim said she learnt later that Dithebe had tricked her.
