They pleaded with Boko on Saturday at Ngwaketse Junior Secondary School where the National Execuytive Committee was on tour.

Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) has not yet resolved the issue surrounding these two constituencies.

However BNF and Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) were asked to discuss amongst themselves on the two constituencies. Both parties want the two constituencies.

In their closed-door meeting, the members told Boko that they have structures in the two constituencies and their membership number is high in the areas.

The indoor meeting was attended mostly by elderly members and youth.

“We do not want to be greedy, president but other factors must be looked into when allocating the constituencies.

We believe that we can win the two constituencies. But we want the issue to be judged fairly without oppressing other opposition parties. The bigger picture is that we need each other in order to win in 2019,” one of the speakers said.

The members urged their party leaders Boko, party secretary general Moeti Mohwasa, vice president Prince Dibeela and other central committee members that any issues pending for cooperation talks should be resolved quickly to allow campaigns to start.

The members also decried that their party colours were not visible like before and that there is need for re-branding.

“BNF is still strong in the southern region, and that is why today our elderly people came to this meeting because they have their own complaints. Our complaints are that members are not putting on BNF colours and therefore our party does not look visible.”

“To us BNF is not a party but a religion. Our aim as the southern region is to win all the 71 council wards, currently UDC have 30 and 28 of them are BNF members. We have started campaigns in order to win seven constituencies,” Gofaone Kedise said.

BNF spokesperson Justin Hunyepa confirmed that indeed the members have requested that the issue of the two constituencies be looked into.

“The party members have discussed a lot of important issues that are internal.

The reason why our central committee is travelling all regions is to revive structures and to find a way we could re brand the party. Of course the members feel that others do not put on BNF colours during party activities,” Hunyepa said.
