The meeting went on without chairperson, Mothusi Taolo and his vice chairperson technical, Petrus Ditsele who were said to be held up.

Prior to the elections, seven posts were left vacant with members resigning, as most of them were former BCL employees. Amongst the posts that were left vacant were those of chairperson, vice chairperson technical, treasure and kit manager.

Nico United voted into office a new club committee following the resignation of the old committee members. Moagi Tshupego was voted chairperson with Oneetse Matebejane coming as his assistant. Other members of the new committee are Bangulani Choolisa (treasurer), Joseph Kelekwang (kit manager), Mathiba Motheo (supporters chairperson).

Orapeleng Mogomotsi managed to retain the public relations officer post unopposed while Busang Moalosi and Phinda Mbereki were retained as welfare manager and logistics manager respectively. Esther Ikaneng is the secretary assisted by Ditshenyegelo Mogote with Samuel Ponatshego and Moreri Kgakgamatso as additional members.

The old committee was elected into office in 2015 and they were remaining with two years to complete their term. Before the elections, the outgoing treasurer Moreri Kgakgamatso briefed the gathering on the progress they had on matters they were asked to tackle when they assumed office.

He said the team experienced financial problems and has failed to pay the players. He said players were not paid the whole season and that they were surviving on hand-outs. He said due to the financial situation the club was going through, they were forced to recruit players from lower divisions with 90% of them from Division One.

Kgakgamatso said the club has already affiliated in Debswana First Division North. Speaking to MonitorSport after his election, Tshupego said he was happy to be elected because he was concerned about how the committee was running the affairs of the team.

“It was my intention to settle for a position in the committee so that I can closely monitor and help in the smooth running of the team going forward,” he said. He said they are going to work hard to source sponsorship that will ease the burden of running the club. He promised to bring supporters and well-wishers closer to team.

He said he experienced that even though the team was struggling financially, supporters were a bit distant from the club. He said there was a huge gap between the committee and the supporters. Vusa Ziga donated seven balls to the club that is known to be close to his heart.

He said the encouraging thing is that there are people who still have passion for the club. “It is important that when you have passion towards something, you step up and make a difference,” he said. Ziga said the disappointing factor was the attendance as he expected more people to attend the AGM.
