Sereetsi & The Natives� sophomore album hits the streets in April

The group front-runner Tomeletso Sereetsi told Arts & Culture that the album does not have a title yet, but all of the songs were written and arranged on the four-string guitar. “Like my debut, Four String Confessions, Swedish drummer, producer and engineer Mikael Rosen and myself will produce it.
I have composed all of the music and the lyrics except for one folk song,” he said.
The man who started music at Somerset in Francistown many years ago as a young boy made an impression with the first album that included songs like Robete and Thaa kokome. Now the group’s followers wait in anticipation see what Sereetsi & Natives have been cooking since 2015.
For continuity’s sake, Sereetsi said he would also feature Kagiso Mangole on keyboards and other natives that he has been working with on stage, such as Sakkie Nonong on bass and Gomotsegang G Rapoo in electric guitar.
The new COSBOTS boss said he is also looking to feature a few musicians that he met along the way during his international gigs and travels. Sereetsi & The Natives performed in various festivals in Europe in 2016.
The artist, who is currently hosting four strings guitar workshops said the new album would still remain the heart of the Sereetsi & The Natives sound. “I hope that the new music will stretch the rhythmic and melodic conversations set off in Four String confessions and win us more natives to the fold while retaining the ones who have been solidly behind us for the three or so years since the debut,” he highlighted.
Sereetsi whose sound blends traditional Botswana rhythms with Western influences further said that he knows that he is going to enjoy playing the songs live for many more years. “I am very excited about the music and I know people are going to find stuff they love”.
The Ke boletsa mongwe singer was quick to say that no song in the album will be filler. “We are putting out no less than 10 songs this time around.” Sereetsi has been busy posting about his recording sessions on Facebook. His pictures showed some sneak peeks of his title songs that include Pompetla, Maobenka, Sebodu and Botengteng.
