ATI won the award for Song of the year, Best Single Male and Best Single Hip Hop Motswako for his song Khiring Khiring Khorong Khorong. Real name Atlasaone Molemogi, ATI also performed the song that made him a household name last year and even received a standing ovation from the audience.

It was also R&B singer, Bouncy's night as she won the award for Best Single Female and Best Single R&B. The controversial singer also performed her Serope Mperekela song, as she flashed her 'assets' to the amazed crowd. New kid on the block, Yaw Bannerman won the Best Newcomer award and the Best Collabo award in which he is featured in Veezo's Zaka song.

Kwaito group MMP Family also known as Manyora a style, retained their Best Single Kwaito award while Zoharvey won the Best Single Dance. The awards held under the theme #RedHothot18 saw Bangu winning the Best Producer award while Mdu Tha Party won the Social Media award. They boasted that a party can’t begin without a DJ and indeed the YAMAs could not be complete without the appreciation of the men and women behind the decks.

The Best Hip Hop DJ award went to DJ Tumie while NT Base deservingly won the Best Dance award. DJ Skizo's Tribal Monks won the Hall of Fame award. While everyone was hoping that ATI was going to win the People's Choice/Artist of the Year award, surprisingly HanC of Sedi Laka and Seileng fame won the award against all odds. Dramaboi once again did not win any award and Vee also continued his winless streak at YAMAs.

Although the previous YAMAs dubbed XXXL were a bit below par, this year's showpiece was better and the introduction of surprise performances from foreign artists such as Khuli Chana and HHP got the crowd going.  Besides half-nude performers, Amantle Brown also rocked the audience with her Sapelo single and she looked strange without her black and gold hairstyle.
